A newly surfaced video shows a group of college students involved in a tragic crash earlier this week in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, had been partying and possibly drinking before rear-ending a truck.
The crash, which occurred early Tuesday morning, left six students dead and one critically injured. According to police, CCTV footage from the area shows the students driving at high speeds.
Authorities believe the students’ Innova was racing a BMW before the collision. The impact was so severe that some passengers were reportedly decapitated, and the vehicle was left mangled.
The video, obtained by India Today TV, shows the group of young men and women dancing, pouring drinks, and drinking what appeared to be alcoholic beverages earlier that evening.
The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. at ONGC Chowk when the students’ car slammed into the rear of a truck. All six passengers died on the spot, and 25-year-old Siddhesh Agrawal was rushed to Synergy Hospital with critical injuries.
India Today reported that after the crash, Siddhesh’s iPhone sent an emergency SOS alert to the police control room, possibly helping to save his life.
Siddhesh’s father, Vipin Agrawal, said his son has remained unconscious since the accident and requested privacy for the family. “Six families have lost their children, and my son is in the ICU. Please refrain from spreading rumors or fake news,” Agrawal urged. “The police are investigating, and the truth will come out.”
The victims have been identified as Kunal Kukreja (23), Atul Agrawal (24), Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goel (23), Kamakshi (20), and Guneet (19). While Kukreja was from Himachal Pradesh, the others were from Dehradun. Authorities have not yet determined which institution the students attended.
An investigation is underway, with police examining CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the crash. While the role of alcohol remains unconfirmed, the video has intensified public speculation.
